in loving memory of
Joyce Imuetinyan Aiwansedo

Joyce Imuentiyan Aiwansedo was born on January 24, 1961, in Benin City to Mr. Clement Uwaifo of the Uwaifo family and Mrs. Regina Onaghise of the Omosigho family. Her academic journey began at Imaguero College in Benin City, where she demonstrated her intellectual capabilities and athletic prowess. In 1977, Joyce clinched victory in the senior girls’ 800m race, a testament to her dedication and spirit. By 1978, she had successfully completed her grade II examination, now known as the SSCE, earning her certificate. In 1979, Joyce married Mr. Femi Aiwansedo in a ceremony steeped in traditional law and customs. Their union was blessed with four children, and despite her family responsibilities, Joyce pursued further education. She graduated from the College of Education UNIBEN with a certificate in Home Economics in 1983 and completed her NYSC in July 1984.
Joyce’s professional life was marked by a deep commitment to education and child development. As a devoted teacher and disciplinarian, she nurtured not only her biological children but also three young children she took in, ensuring their education and upbringing. Her career spanned several institutions, including Idia College, Garrick Memorial Secondary School, King of Kings Preparatory School, and Amena Preparatory School. As headmistress of Jubilee Academy, Joyce played a crucial role in shaping young minds and developing educational content.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Joyce earned a certificate in evangelism from Word of Faith Bible Church while in Mali and achieved the status of deaconess at the Miracle Center, Church of God Mission, Benin City. After relocating to Lagos in 2022, she quickly became an active member of her new Christian community, Church of God Mission I’ntl, Okota District (The Wealthy Place) with her characteristic enthusiasm and joy. Joyce Imuentiyan Aiwansedo was a beacon of peace, love, and unity. She is survived by her four children, four grandchildren, Two Sons-in-law and a Daughter-in-law, brothers, sister, relatives and friends.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning, new mercies I see
All I have needed,
Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest Sun,
moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside
13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1. Blessed assurance
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Chorus:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
2. Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
3. Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
1. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3. If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7. (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless Babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From a life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Could ever pluck me from His hand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand
I will stand, I will stand
50. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56. The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
58.Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

With heavy hearts but in total acceptance of God’s will, the Aiwansedo and Uwaifo families announce the sudden, unbelievable, yet peaceful passing of our dearly beloved mother and grandmother, who left us on June 5, 2024.

A Tribute to Our Beloved Mother
Homage clips & Live stream | Coming soon….
My mother was very kind, God-fearing, and a straightforward person. She always called a spade a spade and wanted what was right. Mum was also a great teacher and disciplinarian as she brought me up to understand the moral values of life and behave responsibly. I remember Mum teaching me many domestic activities, which have helped me till this Day.
It hurts me that the hassles of life could not let us spend quality time together, and I wish I could turn back the hands of time. Now I feel very sad as I can’t even greet you on the phone anymore. Well goodbye is not forever as I know we will meet again.
I love you, Mummy, and you will be greatly missed.
You taught me to read, to be strong, to say no, to live, to find joy, to embrace peace, to laugh, to celebrate, to dance, to give, and to be my true self. Thank you, Mum. Thank you. Just a few months ago, we celebrated and danced together, and you lit up the party with your unique rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Had I known that was our last dance. As a teacher, you did more than impart knowledge; you ignited in me a passion for learning and a curiosity about the world. Throughout life’s challenges, you remained steadfast, with an unwavering spirit that inspired us all and taught us the value of perseverance and hope.
Then came June 5. Your passing was peaceful, reflecting the serene and compassionate life you led. Though you have moved on as the universe destined, your impact remains. Your legacy will continue to light our way.
Coming soon…
Words fail me!
I usually say, “What can we do without Grandma?” to express my gratitude for having you in our lives. Now, I’m actually asking myself this question. Only God knows the answer! If we can live again and choose our parents, I’ll choose you over and over again. You lived to bless others! An ideal wife, a virtuous woman that loves God. I’m happy to have been your child. I love you and I’m happy you lived a happy woman these last days of your life. We are comforted that you left us peacefully and are resting in God’s bosom. With great joy, we hope to see you on resurrection morning.
I love you, Mommy.

I can still remember the first time I met you. As vibrant a woman you are, you hugged me at the airport and welcomed me into her heart without reservation. You were so full of happiness that I initially thought you were one of my wife’s friends, making such a youthful impression. It’s hard to believe that you are no longer here. I will always remember you as a warm-hearted, fun-loving person with a strong faith in God. Though you are no longer with us, you will forever live on in our hearts.
My Deaconess and mother, some people may not know your worth in Christ, your heart of sacrifice, or how you strive to make everyone smile. It burns my heart to see you sleep, and I’m unable to communicate with you anymore. I am encouraged that you are in a great place in heaven.
My entire family will greatly miss you, your care, advice and love, and your presence in my children’s lives. The church will miss you, how you contributed, danced and put a smile on people’s faces. Your motherly embrace and love. I am happy that your last days were filled with Joy, peace and health which gives me the assurance that your departure was for a purpose yet to be unveiled. My minister, I love you and will forever on earth appreciate the day I met you. You remain my second mother and heroin.
Tribute to my lovely, sweet mother-in-law.
Thank you for accepting me into your family and for your support and love. Our lives are better because of you. I love being your daughter-in-law; you are beautiful, generous, and strong. I feel lucky to call you mother-in-law, and thank you for being you. Forever in our hearts, sweet mummy. Rest on.

Even though we haven’t spent much time together, I want you to know how much I cherish the moments we have shared. You took care of me when I was just a child, and those are the only memories I can recall from that age. Your presence in my life, though brief, has left a lasting impression on me. Thank you for being such a remarkable person with a big heart and a love for others.
Today and beyond, we remember my beloved grandmother, whose warmth and joy brightened our lives. Though our time together was brief, playing games with her created memories I’ll cherish forever. Grandma’s spirit will always remain in our hearts, a beacon of kindness and love. Let us honour her by cherishing those we love and finding happiness in our shared moments. Rest in peace, Grandma.
You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
With love.
Dear Grandma, why did you have to leave us on earth? I don’t understand. I am so grateful to have met you. You were very cheerful, honest, faithful and a good teacher to me. I wish I could tell you all my experiences as I grow up. I miss you a lot. We all miss you so much. I love you. Always stay happy in heaven.
I miss you grandma. I didn’t want you to leave us but you went to heaven so I am happy you are in heaven. I love you always grandma.

Mummy, I still can’t believe that you are gone. Everything that happened that day seemed like a dream to me because we wanted you to live longer. Mummy, you were a Christian, not just a Christian but a devotee of God. You were a mother to me, my mentor and my role model. You left an indelible mark on our lives. Your unwavering love, care and devotion will never be forgotten. Your kindness, wisdom and generosity inspired us to be our best selves, and it will never be forgotten.
Though your physical appearance is gone, your Spirit lives on in our hearts and memories. We cherish the moments we shared together, the laughter, the tears, and the countless ways you made our lives worth living. We will miss you, mummy, but we know that you are not far from us. You have become another shining and guiding star watching over us.
Rest well, mummy. Your love will forever be in our hearts, and your memory will always be a blessing to us. Amen.
My sweet mum, I miss you so much. I wish that you were still here with us. I remember when you used to teach me the things that I didn’t know. I also remember when you used to play games with us; you used to be very happy. I also remember when you used to write out all the things you learnt in church in your journal and how happy you were when they praised me.
I wished I had known; I would have stopped God from taking you. As much as I miss you, I know that someday we will reunite with you. You believed so much in God’s word; you loved and feared Him. Mummy, know this: though we can’t see you or hear you, you are in our hearts, and you will never be forgotten. Mummy, may your soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.
